Halyna Budilova is a children’s writer, poet, songwriter, journalist, translator and publisher from Kyiv, Ukraine, now based in County Longford, Ireland.
Born in 1990, she holds a Master’s degree in Philology and Translation and works across Ukrainian, Russian, English and German. She is the owner of Little Beetle Press and has authored more than 20 books for children, including the award-winning A Very VERY Angry Book.
Her therapeutic colouring book series, Robbie and Crosspatch in Crown, created in response to the coronavirus pandemic, has been published internationally.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Halyna and her two children were forced to leave their home and rebuild their lives in Ireland, where she continues her work as a writer and publisher.
A member of Irish PEN and the Irish Society for the Study of Children’s Literature, her Irish-published books include The Sunflower Lion and Happy Will Be the Days.
