Clare O’Reilly is a Kildare-based writer originally from Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath.
An accomplished poet and short story writer, she has received first place in several major literary competitions, including the Poetry Ireland/Trócaire Unpublished Poet Competition, the Jonathan Swift Poetry Awards, the Crawford Art Gallery Award and the Charles Macklin Prize.
She has also been shortlisted for the Fish Poetry Prize.
Clare’s poetry has appeared in respected journals and publications including Poetry Ireland Review, The Honest Ulsterman, A New Ulster, Golden Pen, Skylight 47, The Ogham Stone Journal and a range of anthologies.
Her short fiction has also reached national audiences through the Francis MacManus Short Story Competition broadcasts on RTÉ Radio 1.
With a strong record across both poetry and prose, Clare’s writing reflects a distinctive literary voice rooted in craft, observation and emotional intelligence.
