Inklings Creative Writing Group is a vibrant and well-regarded community writing group based in Mullingar, County Westmeath.
Founded in September 2016 by Sinéad Hogan and Brian McLoughlin, the group was created to provide a welcoming morning space for writers of all abilities, genres and levels of experience.
Since then, Inklings has grown into a lively creative community, with more than 40 members as of February 2026, including emerging writers, poets and established published authors.
Brian McLoughlin continues to play a key role as facilitator and contact person and different members regularly contribute to the group’s weekly column in the Westmeath Examiner.
Laurence Meehan, Chair of the Mullingar Literary Festival, is also a member.
Collaborative, supportive and inclusive, Inklings continues to nurture local literary talent and strengthen Mullingar’s creative writing culture.
