Mullingar Literary Festival

Mullingar Literary Festival is fast becoming one of Ireland’s leading free to attend literary festivals — an ambitious, inclusive celebration of books, poetry, music, ideas and local creativity in the heart of the Midlands.

In July 2025, the inaugural Mullingar Literary Festival brought writers, poets, historians, and musicians together for three remarkable days of storytelling and connection.

Over 1,500 attendees gathered across Mullingar — from the warm surroundings of Caffrey’s Bar to the historic Greville Arms Hotel and Mullingar Library — to share ideas, laughter, and a few well-earned pints.

What began as a local celebration has already become a highlight of Ireland’s literary calendar — and 2026 promises to be even bigger.
