Caragh Maxwell is a writer based in Sligo town whose work explores the self, memory and womanhood with clarity, intimacy and emotional depth.
She graduated from the Trinity College Dublin MPhil in Creative Writing in 2023, developing a distinctive voice across fiction, essays and poetry.
Her writing has appeared in The Irish Times, The Cormorant and other publications, where she has shown a strong interest in interior life, personal history and the ways memory shapes identity.
Her debut novel, Sugartown, marks an important arrival in contemporary Irish fiction and was shortlisted for the 2025 An Post Irish Book Awards.
Through her prose, Caragh brings a thoughtful and finely observed perspective to questions of belonging, experience and the lives of women.
Based in the west of Ireland, she continues to write work that is reflective, contemporary and deeply attuned to the complexities of modern life.
