Caoimhín Ó Mórdha (Kevin Moore) is a bilingual poet (writing in the Irish and English language) born in Belfast, living formative years in County Monaghan, and who has resided in Mullingar for the last 35 years.
Naosán Ó Mórdha (Naosán Moore), Caoimhín’s son, is a music composer specialising in piano composition who was born and raised in Mullingar and is now based in London.
Together Caoimhín and Naosán form ‘Macahar’, a name with links to the Irish for son and father.
They are nearing the release of a new album, combining Caoimhín’s original Irish/English poetry and Naosán’s original instrumental piano compositions.Their album comprises twelve of Caoimhín’s recited poems in the Irish and English language and twelve of Naosán’s music compositions to complement each poem.
The poetry is introspective, reflective and contemplative, engaging in family, emotion, and the nature of humanity.
Naosán’s music is inspired by music artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Ólafur Arnalds, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, and Jamie Duffy, as well as being influenced by Caoimhín’s poetry.
Macahar seek to communicate with a wider audience via this literary form, while utilising original artistic piano pieces.
