The Mullingar Literary Festival has always been about more than books. It is about people, place, creativity, community, and the shared belief that culture should be open and accessible to everyone. This year, that spirit has been felt more strongly than ever, as businesses and individuals from across Mullingar have come forward with extraordinary generosity to support the festival.
Thanks to this support, every event at this year’s Mullingar Literary Festival will be free to the public. From author interviews and poetry sessions to music, workshops, children’s events, teen events, heritage, performance and creative writing, the festival can welcome people of all ages without a ticket price at the door.
At the heart of that support is our key sponsor, Buckley’s SuperValu Mullingar, whose backing has played a central role in making the festival possible. Their commitment to the town, to community events, and to supporting local initiatives has been outstanding, and we are deeply grateful for the confidence they have shown in Mullingar Literary Festival.
We are also hugely grateful to Caffrey’s Bar, one of the festival’s main supporters and a key venue across the weekend. Caffrey’s has helped create a warm and welcoming home for many of our festival events, and their support reflects the very best of local hospitality and community spirit.
A special word of thanks must also go to Breedon, who are sponsoring all of the children’s and teen events at this year’s festival. Their support helps ensure that young people have free access to creative, inspiring and confidence-building events designed especially for them. From children’s workshops to teen writing and spoken word opportunities, Breedon’s contribution is helping to nurture the next generation of readers, writers and storytellers.
The festival is also proudly supported by a generous group of event sponsors, including North Midlands Credit Union, Nexa, Kia Sleator, A Gorman Flooring, O’Brien Motor Group, Amber Court, and Seamus Bracken Butchers. Each of these businesses has helped strengthen the programme and ensure that Mullingar can host a festival that is ambitious, welcoming, and completely free to attend.
Beyond sponsorship, the response to the MLF Raffle has been remarkable. Local businesses have donated a wonderful range of prizes and vouchers, showing once again how strongly the town has got behind the festival. Every raffle prize tells its own story of generosity, goodwill and local pride.

What has been most moving is not simply the scale of the support, but the spirit in which it has been given. Local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, artists, writers, performers, families and festival-goers have all played their part. Together, they are helping to build something special for Mullingar, a festival that belongs to the town and reflects the talent, kindness and generosity within it.
Mullingar Literary Festival is proud to be a free festival, but free events are never truly free to create. They are made possible by people who believe in community, culture, creativity and the importance of giving everyone the chance to take part.
To Buckley’s SuperValu, Breedon, Caffrey’s Bar, all of our event sponsors, our raffle prize contributors, and every local person and business who has supported the festival: thank you.
Because of you, Mullingar Literary Festival can continue to grow as a celebration of writing, reading, spoken word, music, imagination and community in the heart of the town.
