At the Festival

Alison Weatherby joins Mullingar Literary Festival for a special in-conversation event with Brónagh Ní Chuilinn, offering audiences an insight into the world of mystery writing for young readers.

Based outside Dublin, Alison is a writer of middle-grade, teen and young adult fiction, with a particular gift for crafting gripping stories filled with secrets, suspense and intrigue. She first came to prominence as the winner of Chicken House Books’ Open Coop competition, which led to the publication of her debut novel, The Secrets Act. Set at Bletchley Park during the Second World War, the historical YA mystery went on to win the Redhill Academy Trust Book Award and was shortlisted for the Young Quills Award.

Her latest book, The Common Criminals’ Club, marks Alison’s first mystery for middle-grade readers, bringing her trademark pace, wit and clever plotting to a younger audience.

When she is not reading or writing about murders, Alison visits schools to teach young people how to create their own mysteries. She also enjoys reading, running and boxing, and lives with her husband, two daughters and their very goofy lurcher, Greta.

This promises to be a lively and engaging conversation about writing, mystery and storytelling.
