Profile

Dave Hynes is a poet, entertainer and lover of all things wordy.

He is the coordinator, curator and host of Spoken Word at The Word Tent in MindField, where he brings voices, stories, rhythm, humour and performance together in a vibrant celebration of spoken word.

A co-founder of The Poetry Kiln, The Rising Tide and A-musing, Dave has long been involved in creating spaces where writers, performers and audiences can connect through language and live performance.

His work is rooted in a love of words, a belief in the power of expression, and a gift for encouraging others to step up, speak out and be heard.

At the Festival

Words on Fire is a creative, relaxed and exciting spoken word poetry workshop for teenagers with something to say.

Led by poet, entertainer and spoken word host David Hynes, this free two-hour session invites young people to explore poetry, rap, storytelling, journaling, music and performance in a supportive setting.

With David’s energy, humour and experience, participants will be encouraged to find their voice, shape their ideas and express themselves with confidence.

Built around the message “Your words. Your power.”, the workshop celebrates creativity, self-expression and the courage to speak your truth.
