Laurence Meehan Chairman MLF

Laurence Meehan is the Chair of the Mullingar Literary Festival, a passionate advocate for literature and the arts.
He began his career at Eason & Son Booksellers in Dublin, where his love for books first took root.  Laurence later transitioned into graphic design, web design, and marketing, founding a successful creative business.

He has lived in Mullingar since 2001 and is deeply involved in the local arts scene. A committed reader and film enthusiast, Laurence finds inspiration in both the written word and the silver screen.

He is a proud member of Inklings, Mullingar’s vibrant writing group. Laurence has a particular love for poetry, both reading and writing it. He is currently working on his debut poetry collection, set for release in late 2025. His work explores themes of memory, identity, and the unseen rhythms of daily life. Through his leadership and creativity, Laurence continues to champion literary culture in the Midlands  

At the Festival

Join us for the official opening of the inaugural Mullingar Literary Festival on Friday, 4th July 2025, at Caffrey’s Bar, Mount Street. Chairman Laurence Meehan will launch the festival with a warm welcome and an overview of the exciting programme of events taking place over the weekend of 4th–6th July.

Celebrate Mullingar’s proud tradition of literature and music as we begin a new cultural chapter with readings, discussions, and performances that honour both emerging voices and literary heritage. All are welcome to this special evening of words, inspiration, and community spirit.

Admission is free. Early arrival is recommended to avoid disappointment.
